Thousands of palm trees, the largest natural palm grove in Europe, descend to a beach of white sand and turquoise waters. The image is so exotic that for years Vai was synonymous with posters for exotic holidays.<\/p>\n<p>The palm grove is a protected area, so enjoy its beauty with respect, walking on the designated paths.<\/p>\n<h2>How to get there from Heraklion<\/h2>\n<p>Vai is about one hundred and twenty kilometers from Heraklion, a journey of about two hours to the east, via Agios Nikolaos and Sitia.
