It is about 20 kilometers from the city and the airport, a journey of about 25 minutes by car. We at JK Tours have been here since 1992, so we know the place like the back of our hand. Let's see what it's worth and why a car makes the difference.

How to get there

From the airport or port of Heraklion, take the northern road west and soon you will find the turnoff for Agia Pelagia. The road descends towards the sea with a nice view of the bay. Public transport routes are few and leave you on the main road, so a car is very helpful to move around the area comfortably.

The main beach and the hidden coves

The main beach of Agia Pelagia is sandy, shallow and sheltered from the wind, ideal for families. The nice thing is that a few minutes further on there are smaller coves, such as Mononautis and Ligaria, which are difficult to reach without a vehicle. With a small car you can move from one beach to the other in the same day and you can easily find peace even in August.

Food and a walk in the village

Around the bay you will find taverns with fresh fish, cafes by the sea and a few shops for a stroll in the afternoon. The village still retains its calm character, without the crowds of the large tourist centers.

Excursions based in Agia Pelagia

The location of Agia Pelagia is convenient as a base. In half an hour you are in city of Heraklion for the Archaeological Museum and the Venetian walls, or to Knossos for the Minoan palace. A little further west is Fodele, the village of Domenikos Theotokopoulos, and beyond that the bay of Bali. See all the ideas in our destinations and create your own route.

Why do you want a car here?

Beyond beaches and excursions, a car gives you the freedom to leave whenever you want, without waiting for a bus or paying for a taxi for every trip. An economical model like the Nissan Micra is enough for a couple, while for groups or families there are larger options throughout the fleet.

We are in Agia Pelagia and we deliver the car wherever it is convenient for you, even at the airport. Contact us to arrange pickup.

Guide to Agia Pelagia, Heraklion: how to get there, the beaches and hidden coves, excursions in the area and why a car makes a difference.

[21

post-1264","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-proorismoi-blog
["GET
