Knossos: the Minoan legend next to Heraklion

Knossos is the most important archaeological site in Crete, the center of the Minoan civilization with its legendary palace and frescoes. It is located just a few kilometers south of Heraklion, so by car you are there in less than fifteen minutes from the center or the airport.

There is organized parking near the entrance. Go early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the heat and crowds. With your own car You can easily combine the visit with a walk in the old town of Heraklion.
